Strengthening & Promoting Women Entrepreneurs in Jamaica is a 3-year project, being implemented by Women Business Owners Ja. Ltd. (WBO), and funded by the Multi-Lateral Investment fund, a member of the Inter-American Development Bank. The WBO is headed by some of Jamaica’s leading business women with the aim of mentoring and assisting in the growth of women-owned business in Jamaica. The project aims to educate, train and mentor women who own small and medium businesses, to facilitate the growth of their businesses. The project is targeting 300 direct beneficiaries (women who have grown their businesses), but will engage women on a national level through publicity, communications and events. Goal of the Project The goal of the project is to contribute to growth and sustainability of women owned small and medium businesses in Jamaica. The purpose is to strengthen 300 women-owned small and medium businesses by improving their prospects to access finance. Project Components In order to reach these objectives, the project will implement four components: i. An awareness-building campaign and mapping exercise ii. The development and implementation of a technical assistance programme for the strengthening of women-owned businesses iii. Access to finance iv. Systematise the lessons learned for sustainability, replication and expansion |
